LimbDifference Application

This application was inspired by my son, who became an amputee after a lawn mower accident. Experiencing his prosthetic journey showed me how difficult it can be to clearly communicate discomfort during fittings. This app helps amputees and caregivers share those concerns more easily, while also supporting therapy tracking, appointments, and communication for a more comfortable and informed care experience.

Digital Wireframes

The digital wireframes developed from initial sketches that explored layout and user flow. Moving to digital refined the structure and improved clarity, ensuring a purposeful, user-centered design.

User Testing

User testing showed the app is easy to navigate for key tasks, but some older users had difficulty finding the main menu and preferred clearly labeled bottom navigation for improved clarity.

Task Flow: Connecting to Prosthesis

Once the user signs in, two options are available. Selecting “My Prosthesis” prompts the user to either connect via Bluetooth or design a custom socket. When connected through Bluetooth, the system reads the patient’s pressure points and displays personalized tips to enhance comfort.

Task Flow: Designing Prosthesis Socket

To design a prosthesis socket, users go to “My Prosthesis,” select “Design Socket,” choose or create a design with customizable options, preview and submit it, then receive confirmation with options to return home or continue editing.

Task Flow: Therapy Exercises

To access therapy exercises, the user will navigate to “My Therapy,” select “Exercises,” and then choose the session that best suits their needs. From there, they can view a guided video demonstration explaining how to properly perform the selected exercise.

Task Flow: Schedule an Appointment

To schedule a therapy appointment, users select “Therapy” then “Scheduling,” choose an available date from the calendar, pick a time slot, and receive a confirmation once the appointment is scheduled.
