Lego Series

Illustrator 2026

This LEGO poster series draws on childlike creativity using simple Duplo-style forms, bold primary colors, and playful compositions to depict familiar objects like an airplane, hot air balloon, and spaceship. Unified by the tagline “Let your imagination soar,” it encourages limitless imagination through simple building blocks.

Sketches

The objective of this project was to create and illustrate a poster. Through this process, we were to develop a clear understanding of the simplification of an image and how to graphically communicate a specific message.

Typography

Arial Black’s bold, blocky form reflects LEGO bricks, creating a playful, legible typeface that matches the bright, imaginative style of the designs.

Inspiration

Watching my five-year-old build creation’s from Lego’s inspired the concept for a children’s poster series.

Color Palette

The palette of red, green, blue, yellow, and white reflects classic LEGO colors, using bright primaries to create a playful, bold, and visually engaging design.

First Drafts

For my first digital piece, I aimed to capture a child’s imagination by turning a Lego creation into a plane. When the design felt flat, I kept the plane fully in Lego form and added multiple planes to create a sense of fun and character. I also used Illustrator’s 3D effects to give the minifigures more dimension and a dynamic look.
